In September 2010, our church the Pentecostals of St Joesph, we had Evangelist Tim Down’s come and teach us effective soulwinning techiniques that totally revolutionized our assembly. In just 4 days our we baptized 49 souls in the name of Jesus Christ and had over 193 first time visitors in the Sunday afternoon service. Since that time, we’ve effectively retained alot of these people, and continue to use the techinques learned to keep reaching souls in the community of St Joseph, MO.

If you visit http://gowinsouls.com which is Tim Down’s website you can learn alot of these techiniques and he has many free resources which you may download from your computer. For the most part we use alot of his materials and we strongly recommend his website.

First we get a van load of volunteers to go out and do street ministry which consists of driving the streets and approaching people and using the techiques taught at http://gowinsouls.com and we use the Heaven or Hell dialogue.
We’ve experienced many people that will get right in the van, and let us bring them to the church immediately to be baptized. The best areas of town to find souls is the most violent parts of the city. These people are looking for help and answers.

First we need to lead them to repentance, with loud prayer and praise, this is important before they are baptized. A celebration atmosphere should be present, as this is a joyous occassion about to take place. When they get into the baptism tank we explain the joy of what they are doing, and to expect God to fill them with His spirit when they come out of the water. Afterwards, we let them sit in front of the volunteers with one person interviewing them on what just happened to them and to share their testimony. Then we ask them what kind of pizza they like, and set up an appointment within 3 days to bring them back to the church for a short 3 scripture bible study. After sharing the scripture, just sit back and let them talk and you listen. Longer bible studies can come later once they’re rooted.

It’s important that when we first disciple new people that we don’t instantly teach a long Bible study and try to teach them everything overnight. Let them get used to us a people and just show them God’s love and our extended open arms to be a part of our church.
